C36 Side Skirt Problem

I was recently in a minor accident with my '97 C36, and they had to replace the driver's door with a new factory unit. The body shop (a local Volvo dealership) did a great job on the door install and they blended it very nicely into the tired old paint on the rest of the car.

However, since I've had the car (almost ten years now) I have been very dissatisfied with the way the side skirts look where they meet the body at the wheel-well openings. They apparently use Velcro to hold these panels in place and it really looks like crap. Several years ago while the car was still under warranty, I had the dealership try to address it and it still looks awful. It is my understanding that this is in fact the factory method of attaching the skirts.

The body shop manager suggested that we remove the skirts, strip off the Velcro and reattach the skirts using adhesive caulk. I'm a bit concerned about using such a permanent method of attachment, just in case they ever need to come off again. I welcome your thoughts and thank you in advance for your replies.

Best Regards,
Rob

you can maybe get the heavy dutton press buttons and caulk it on the body of the car, and the other side on the skirts?
