Car Transportation Compaines?

Looking for a car transport (enclosed) from the east coast NC to Southern California, looks like a lot of horror stories out there.

Anyone have great recommendations?

Thanks

Steven

I have used Intercity Lines on several occasions and would highly recommend them.

I have used DAS several times, have a good online feature for rate quotes. Never had a problem with them (yet)

Intercity was on the expensive side and DAS was very competetive to other companies and another person reccommended them so going with DAS, will hope for the best on the shipping and will report back with details middle of the month.

Thanks for the input guys,

Steven

I used DAS with my Volvo and 300. They were OK. I would recommend Reliable for the best. We use them all the time at the Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance and I have never heard a complain from any car owners.

I'm looking for a shipper too... DAS was pricey, but had a decent reputation, although I've heard some stories about them being a pain to deal with. I'm probably going with Main Line Auto Transport, they had the best deal for door-to-door, and the car stays on a single truck the whole time - picked up & delivered by the same driver. I'll report back with how it goes... expect delivery by Thanksgiving (pick up in 10 days, then ship from Alabama to Idaho).

Got my car shipped with Main Line. I was buying a car sight unseen from 2000 miles away. Scheduled pickup was November 13/14, although I told them that if they could pick up sooner, that would be great. Just don't pick up on the 10th or 11th, the seller won't be available. When does the truck arrive? Saturday night the 11th! Fortunately, the seller was available and got the car loaded up. *whew*

I think the truck driver didn't sleep much, as it arrived in Idaho 3 days and 2 hours later, despite a snowstorm in Wyoming that forced him to chain up for a bit! The car arrived at 11pm Tuesday night, the 14th, the same day it was originally scheduled to be picked up! Amazing. I'm sure this is the exception, not the rule. The driver (Vasily) was a very nice Russian fellow, his English could use a little work, but otherwise it was a smooth transaction. The broker (Main Line) was a little weak on communication after they get your money. But it all worked out in the end, the car arrived safely (open transport, btw).

Compared to what it would have cost to fly out there and drive it back, it was well worth paying for the shipment. And, the car turned out to have some not-insignificant problems, which would have made a 2000 mile drive somewhat risky! I'm working on fixing it up now - so far I think it was a good purchase. Would have liked the price a bit lower, but eh, whattya gonna do...

My E300d arrived last week via DAS, they ended up pretty good in the end, received the car 2 days earlier than agreed. The satellite tracking was great in the sense I did not have to call them daily to find my ride, just check the web.

DAS was a little lame picking up but overall good service and most important car had no damage in the transport. I was happy with them and would use them again.
