What is the blue sticker on the lower passenger side windshield?

Not sure what all years had it, or whether all had it, but I have noticed from a distance that many Mercedes (mostly 1980s models) have a blue sticker on the lower passenger side of the front windshield glass. My 85' has the original glass and it does not have the sticker. Can anyone tell me what it is? I think it at least has "Mercedes-Benz" on it. I am assuming someone simply scraped it off of mine?

I was told at one point that Daimler Benz put that sticker on there as their way of keeping the copyright active on the Daimler name in the US...notice fancy Jag's are called Vanden Plas in the US, not Daimler Sovereigns? The sticker is available through the dealer for about $3 if it bugs you.

Oh really? I did not know that. Thanks. I would like to get one.... seems odd without it. Do they still have the stickers? If not, I wonder what the last year was? My dealer seems to think that they cannot get anything for a 10 year old+ Mercedes.

Your Dealer is Mistaken

If it exists on Planet Earth in a Mercedes parts database it is available to your
dealer..if they care to acquire it for you!

'Parts for almost ANY Mercedes will be manufactured from the Original
specifications by expert machine tool operators...IF YOU can afford the PRICE.
An oil pump for a '30(s) vintage SSK will scare you (and me too).

As I recall they still put A sticker on the glass, but it doesn't have the old Gottlieb Daimler signature, it has a simplified script of some sort. That just changed in the last couple of years. We have several 2007 CLS 6.3's in the shop, I'll take a look tomorrow and see if they have the sticker or not.

Thats what I thought, but our dealer specifically told us that they could not get the PS box seals for my 1985 380SE. I had to order them here. Cheaper anyway.

Thanks. I will call them and see if they can get me one. I need to go down within the next 6 weeks or so and pick up an oil filter anyway.

I had the pleasure of driving a 2007 CLS 6.3 today, and the new sticker is a script "Mercedes" in big letters and some small numbers at the bottom, including the part #. Daimler and/or Gottlieb Daimler does not appear on the sticker.

Source for Windshield Sticker

The part number for the Daimler_Benz window sticker is 115 584 06 40 .

The part number for the Mercedes-Benz sticker is (or was) 129 584 08 38.

Heres a blue sticker on the left side of my SDL......
