Good buy site for sheep skin covers?
Anyone know of a good website or store to buy genuinine sheepskin covers? I already looked on Amazon and a couple of car sites but I suppose I want more choices. I would like as close to a custom fit as possible. I have a 1985 300 D, w 123 sedan with a palomino MB tex interior. I live in the SF Bay area.
I could try Ebay but wanted to pick y'alls brains for more ideas first. Cheers, Frankie

Get these http://www.sheepskin.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=SC000001&UnitCde=1&Desc=Premium%20Low%20Back%20Covers&VendorDesc=&Search=N
Great fit for the price, real plush sheepskin, and they look great. Here's a photo of mine.

They look nice, H-Town. What does a set like that cost? I am also curious how much difference there is in sheep skins. I've heard that some of the cheaper ones have a tendency to shed a lot. Do you know if this is true?

Those are the Premium Low Back covers from sheepskin.com, $99 each. I once bought some sheepskins from Sam's Club, they were $50 I think, they shed like crazy. I have had no problems with these concerning shedding.

H-town Benz
I like those too. AND they have armrest sheepskin covers?!?!! Damn, all I need now are one of those big fuzzy dice for my rear view mirror! If the seat cover doesn't shed(glad someone thought to ask that), it's worth that price for sure. F.

Local, TOP place, covers have lasted 10 years so far
Frankie,
Here's a place you could try: RamsHead Sheepskin World, in Santa Rosa. click www.ramsheadusa.com The name of the owner is Andre Moeckel, he's Austrian, and the above address is his factory. We went to the factory when it was in Sonoma and had a set made for the 560SEC and the Volvo 740. This was back in January 1997, about TEN years ago, they were only supposed to last for 6 years but still have them, and did when we let the Volvo go in 2004. They were expensive - $578 for a set for the Mercedes, but worth it. He uses the Best New Zealand sheepskin covers, you get to pick your color, brown, black, gray, etc. (I chose Polar White), and each seat gets a 2 piece, custom fitted cover, so each seat surface is separately covered, and the fit is very tight and perfect. You can see the actual factory where they are made, when you select your color and style (do you want the headrests and rear of the seats, and seatback pockets, arm rests, covered or not too) it is a custom installation for each car) I had it done at the factory there, because it is VERY difficult to get these on by yourself, the fit is so tight. He said you can "rotate" them from seat to seat every couple of years, to double their wear. They really do work well, the don't move, they are very warm in winter and cool in the summer, jsut amazing, and they protect the seats too. Just brush or vacuum them once in awhile. He will remove them and have them professionally cleaned and reinstalled, I had this done once, and I think it cost about $60, not bad. His personal car was an '80 300SD diesel with over 300,000 miles on it, and it is a "sheepskin cover" demonstratork, so you can see how they look in a car. I'd highly recommend this place, it's local to you and well worth the money it would cost. I'm hoping to make the Diesel Drive this weekend and you can look at them on my car if I get there. I would say if you want long lasting ones, with a perfect thick fit, and the best quality and customer service, and local to you this is the place to go. I am supremely satisfied with the look and result and LONG LIFE of these, I give this place the top recommendation. You can on the other hand pay a fraction, of the price, and just go to COSTCO too if you want

Hey Jim-
I definitely will look for you and your sheepskins at the Diesel drive Saturday. Should be fun, heh? I don't know how you can type so much at this early hour. Did you already have a few cups of coffee or somethin' I'm only awake b/c I'm at work right now. It's best to be awake when I'm at work. Does sound pricey but you make it sound worthwhile, so I won't exclude this option. F.
