nut, bolts,screw sizes, seat anchors (W123)
 

i hope this isn't a stupid question, but i bought a '78 240D which had most of the interior disassembled. missing a ton of hardware, but not sure of all the sizes and/or lengths screws and bolts. i also need to replace the bolts and clips that anchor the front seats to the floor board. where do i start?

Start looking at the intact w123s in the junkyard and get the fasteners you can get.

I'm pretty sure they're 10mm but as far as thread size, I don't know because I never needed to find a replacement.

For certain bolts, like that, I would go to the dealer or order from Fastlane. When dealing with safety items such as a seat, the Grade of bolt you buy at the hardware store may not match what MB installed.
