Installing Normal Carpet into a 300D, any advice

I'm looking to install normal, home depot, or similar carpet into a 1976 300D. Any tips or advice on how to approach the job, or material to purchase.

I tackled this job once on my 71 250C W114. I used commercial cut pile carpet with a very short nap from ifloors.com. They even sent samples to me. You will need to remove the console, door sills, seat belt anchor bolts, and anything else that goes through the carpet. Remove the old carpet and use as a pattern. I added a little on each edge to make up for shrinkage of the old carpet. Then just glue it in using contact cement. The front and rear mats will not look great unless you bind the edges and add a footpad on the driver's side. Maybe an upholstery shop would do this for you. You can also buy OE carpet by the yard from gahh.com or worlduph.com.

Some carpet pieces are missing, so I can't use as a pattern.

Thanks for the response. My complication is, as stated in the title, that some pieces are missing so I don't have the old piece to use as a pattern.

Which ones are you missing? You can usually find them at the junkyard if there is one in your area. Maybe someone from this forum has an old piece too.

I'm going to pass through the junk yards this week

The car is new to me, and I have that new toy entheusiasm to try to fix things. If I'm lucky enough to find a good carpet, that will be the solution, otherwise, I do my best with normal carpet. Thanks for the ideas!
