Guess it depends on what you are using when you are waxing. There are many different products out there from actual waxes, to sealers, to you name it. I don't think it would be smart to create a new layer of some of these products weekly. While the beading theory is valid for waxes, it's not for products designed to sheet the rain.

Personally, I followed a recommendation on properautocar.com and after using my trusty Porter-Cable Random Orbital Buffer I sealed with Klasse and then used PS21 Carnuba as the final coat. I put another coat on kind of at random, or when I notice the beading start to go away.

"Car Soup?" What's that? I usually prefer a light car salad in the evenings.

Claying won't produce much visible results. You have to feel it to believe it. That way you'll know it's clean, so you can start drying and polishing/waxing. I personally clay my car after a wash, before drying. Then I rinse it again and then dry it up, then proceed with polishing or waxing.

wash car first

yes wash car first.....

and after the clay regiment, you will probably wash the car again to get the lubricant streaks off...

You will be surprised how smooth the surface feels after getting the gunk off the paint normal washing and waxing

I have a neighbor that would wash and wax all his cars every day. Eventually about 5years later some of the paint was actually being taken off. I would advise to only wax about once a month. (always wash first and never wax in the sun)

On all his cars? Something tells me that this was more as a result of your neighbors technique and type of product than anything else.

It is unbelievable the kind of washing or waxing techniques people use on their cars and the lack of knowledge they have as to the product they are using. You can buy aggressive clay bars or aggressive cleaner waxes and swirl removers that can cause problems. You can see someone using a rotary and say "Hey that looks easy", then get one and quickly ruin your paint in no time. Add to that, aggressive car washes, bad respray jobs, deliberately misleading info from product manufacturers and thin modern OEM paints and you have a recipe for disaster.

What was he buffing with? sandpaper?

Maybe he was polishing. That would take the paint off eventually.

you might not like it. and it's a ***** to remove. I stay away from it like the plague. Used it on a car once. Never again. If you don't put it on right, it streaks like hell and you can't get it off easily. It's similar to a plastic poly coating. Just horrible! and it flakes off like badly applied clear coat.
Just my 2 cents.

every 4 months I clay my car, Wax it with liquid glass, and use Mercedes quick wipe by meguires in between with great results. The key to not having to wax your car all the time is keep it clean. Don't let the calcium, dirt, or pollutants sit on your paint and eat away at it.

Thanks for your feedback DarkOne. What brand of liquid glass do you use?

ClayMagic clay. I used em all. I got the best results with this by far, "Liquid Glass" wax, and Mercedes Quick Wipe in between.
DO NOT use clay to remove road tar! road tar contains sandy particles. and will be captured by the clay and then scratch your paint. Wash your car well, then use Naptha, (Lighter fluid), to remove road tar. It's totally safe on all paints. It's so safe, guitar techs use it to clean vintage guitars. once you remove the tar with the naptha, then it's safe to clay.
