Original MB Windshield Decals/Sticker

Sadly, I will have to replace my windshield due to sandblasting by years of driving in the salt belt with sand-salt mixture applied on the roads in winter. It is becoming dangerous when sun is low and/or raining.

Since I like my cars to remain as closely original as possible, I would not like to "loose" it. I have seen many used cars on the market which there MB Stickers were missing, clearly from a windshield replacement.

Is there a part number for that sticker if I'd wish to put it back on?

If not, I'll have to take a picture of it and get it printed at a local decal shop.

Any thoughts?

Bye,

I've bought three on eBay. Just search eBay.

The sticker itself is cheaper at the dealer than on ebay, but by the time I drive 60 or so miles to the closest dealer, eBay is cheaper.

I guess I should find a dealer that understands the workings of the US Postal System, but that's a stretch.

Oh - and shop around for the price on the windshield - when had mine replaced, I found the price range to be hundreds of dollars for the same exact glass.

I eneded up using Harmon Glass. On line, they were not the cheapest, but when I made a personal visit, they came in much cheaper. And at the time, I only had planes to replace the windshield on my SD.

The car will feel like new when you cahnge out the windshield - what a difference!

You can buy them from the dealer for like a $1.

The part number Webmaster referenced has been superceeded by a new sticker that reads "Mercedes" in cursive handwriting if I am not mistaken.

This is the part number I have, and since this is the sticker that was originally on my cars, I will try and get some spares to keep the car original...in case this one becomes an obsolete part anytime soon.

What makes it original?

Bye,
So if I understand this correctly, you can replace the windshield, then put a new sticker on it and the car is still original. Are the tires original? Wiper blades?

I think my grandfather had an axe like your car. He replaced the handle 3 times and the head once, but it was still the original axe.

I think he means he wants the cars to have the period correct stickers with the correct part numbers and aesthetics.

This demands a lot of patience. I have the windshield stickers, but not the "original" ones anymore with the first generation of part numbers. I think the one that superceded it should work perfectly. It's one of those things MB phases out.

Even the original w123 hood star design is phased out, the stars on most ones I see are universal with the 124 and 201. Key difference is the diameter of the base.

Sure, you can call it BS any time. I guess that's also how you treat your cars.

I just replaced all the fuel lines in the engine compartment with original Mercedes lines and Mercedes clamps. Why? Because I want it to be original, OE. Next time I change the serpitine belt I will use an OE one because I want the Star on it. This is how I service the car, I have an OE fuel filter because I want the MB part number and symbol on it. Thats what the car came with from the factory after all. The devil is in the details, aftermarket filters and hose clamps just don't cut it when your going for that factory look. Black injector return lines are not correct either, I changed mine back to the gray ones....

I don't like decals in general and couldn't care less about this one. Maybe I am not picky enough...

A better reason to use an OE dealer sepentine belt on the OM603 is because the quality of said part is superior to the Contitech belt sold by most online parts stores. Compare both side by side, and you'll see what I mean.

wow, I truly wonder how much difference that is? contitech is pretty good... what does the dealer charge for that belt? not $17 I guess... I had to change it because for some reason the original belt was cut by a rasor blade flying up from the road
