De-badge my wagon

I going to de-badge my '01 Black Opal wagon. The archives refer to the center star on the rear being glued on, is this correct? This car was kept in a garage until I bought it, no fade issue, the paint finish left my tech babling when he saw it. I'm keeping it in my garage now. My old '89 W124 wagon star was attached with pins. Along with de-badging I'm putting a two line pinstripe (1/8 in. turquoise/silver), light window tint, 17" E-430 Evo II wheels. I found out today that Black Opal is the $1000 option listed on my window sticker. In my immediate area I have only seen one other. Many silver, tan, white, black, dark blue soccer mom cars. I want my wagon to be just a little different with class. Thanks, Dennis

Its just glue... I used fishing line to remove a badge. Your correct though on the pins, the changeover came a few years later.

I'm going over to the MB dealer detail shop this evening to shoot the breeze with an old friend who know the lead detailer. I might get the ear of someone who can add to this info. Maybe MB changed in '01 to glue. If the star is attached by pins, it obviously will stay on the car. Thanks guys! Dennis

Black Opal is my favorite Benz color. When shopping some years ago I looked at an '02 Black Opal over Ash wagon. It was darn tempting. Ultimately rationality won out and I went with a lower miles Starmark car, but in Desert Silver (which doesn't do anything for me).

I getting my pinstripe put on today between 1-2PM. I found out last night the center MB star IS pin mounted, so it stays. jcukn, I agree, it's the color and condition that sold me on this car. You can always tell a garage kept car, and the paint on mine is a knockout. My point of reference is the paint on my old Vette which i thought was spectacular. Dennis

The stripe is done!!!! The guy that did it is the head detailer at the dealer. They trust him with 200K Bentleys...he is GOOD! Man, wow, oh yeh, etc etc, the strip makes all the difference in the side appearence of the car. I'll be working on getting the windows tinted next. Dennis

De-badged the rear with dental floss, finger nails and WD-40. Buffed with Meguires and waxed...can't tell anything was ever on the back, looks clean and neat. Dennis
