door ajar warning: why don't we have them?

just wondering, why don't w124s have them? aren't these standard safety features? i mean benz claims to be one of the "safer" cars on the road.
just wondering out loud.

Do Mercedes have them now?

Did Volvo have them then?

Just wondering?

hehe, i've driven a few times with the rear doors semi-latched... it didn't seem obvious at the time.
do the newer ones have them now? our 89 735i has a warning chime (like in airplanes) and a readout "door ajar" in big scrolling letters right on the dashboard. not really necessary but cool to have.

Maybe it's just me but you'll hear more noise if any door is ajar. Also wondered about this but never really bothered me to install one.

I'd like to have puddle lights on the w123 though...

yup, there's more noise, but its usually traffic and crawling, not enough rushing air to detect.

hahaha, interior puddle lights, good one
