Shifter illumination bulb for W123

I cant find this bulb anywhere! Does this bulb have a number that denotes its type? I have nothing to go on but my eyes when i search for this thing!

Heh, same problem for me. I ended up just ordered it from my dealer. I could afford the the mark-up to $3....

Now to get around to installing it. It seems like the autoparts stores stopped carrying them.

Remove the ring around the shifter, lift up on the console panel, bulb plugs into the side of shift mechanism. Its a miniature bulb!

Slightly more difficult then that. You have to remove the ashtray frame to be able to raise the wood up enough to SLIDE it back. Remember the plastic pin in the rear. You don't want to break it.....

I guess you are correct, I changed mine 20 years ago, never having done it before with not much of an issue except finding a bulb

I believe I was told once the bulb for the shifter box was of those bulbs Like a fiber optic thing? True?

Is the dealer the only place t get them? Not even Auto Zone etc>?

I get my bulbs at Pick N Pull .

Do as RG2098 says, and you won`t break anything.

Do not pry up on the wood first, or you will break off the tabs that hold
the wood down.

The row of switches above the HVAC are lit by fiber optic lines originating from a bulb behind the HVAC unit. The HVAC has 4 of its own bulbs, radio is lit internally. There is one bulb in the shifter.

What I don't remember is the window switches. I don't recall seeing and fiber lines under there but I could be wrong.
