w123 door upholstery question

The upholstery on the upper door/window frame has become shriveled and wrinkled. Has anyone ever renewed this item?

I've read they can be ordered from the dealer, but are expensive. If your car is it's original color, you can pull them off and clean up the two adhesive spots. I pulled mine off and it looks good.

I am not positive, but $275 each is what I remember reading. Also they are limited in colors available.

Mine look the same. It must be a common problem. I'm sorry to hear that replacements are so expensive (at least I wasn't drinking anything when I read this). I wonder if they could be removed, heated up with a heat gun, and smoothed out. Has anybody tried that?

Mine were so bad that they crackled apart as I removed them. They shrank too.

Mine are pretty bad, too. They look like they've already been exposed to a lot of heat.
