Call your local MB dealer's Parts Department. They should know the size and sell you one for a reasonable price. I'd refrain from trying anything other than the proper screw because if you strip the female threads you'll make things worse.

Are you talking about the two screws at the bottom, which are hidden by the seat cushion? The hole is in what is essentially the rear wheel wells?

If so, the screws are 6mm. I just did this. See this thread:
