Wear to Leather Seat Side Bolster--Options?

I'm sure you have seen this a million times. Previous owner drags himself in and out of the driver's seat, creating premature wear of the side bolster. Maybe he's wearing keys or a phone on that side, or maybe he just can't lift himself out of the car. Whatever...

I'm about to take ownership of a nice E320 Cab with 28K miles and near perfect tan leather seats, except for this defect. What can be done? At home? By a dealer? Thanks, Ken in NYC

It's a tough call without seeing a picture. The challenge of patchwork refurbishing is getting the new to match the old around it in both color and patina. There are some DIY products, like SEM Classic Coat and Sure Coat (below), but on such a nice car and without experience you might want to go with a pro. The dealer probably doesn't have someone on staff but rather uses a mobile guy. You'll probably pay a little more but might get better service too. By the way SEM Classic Coat Acura Tan is a good color match for MB creme beige, but blending in part of a panel or even a whole panel is really tough.

Kepp it clean with a woolite water mix and apply a leather protectant on a regular basis.

here is your solution, while it may be alittle pricey it will bring not only the driver seat back to life but will also bring the rest of the interior to like new condition.

http://www.leatherique.com/

You will need the REJUVINATOR OIL and PRESTINE CLEAN.

here is where you can get it on the cheap. Look at the kits and see what you need. Make up your own kit by going to stores and buying the towels and brush it will save you alot. Just buy the two cleaners. Make sure that you follow the instructions on their website because every step has to be done in that order.

As for the scratches you will most likely need to use there dye, which you can get off their website. hope this helps you out.
