I did it again
I didn't believe it myself.
So to try for a second convinving exercise, I did the door handles on the 260E, which had some chrome and turning-grey handles. It worked beautifully. Ebony black and as good as new. The chrome was not affected. As a further "experiment", I applied Autoglym's Vinyl and Rubber care on the bumper sides and the results were not so appealing. The reason was the uneveness of the ebony spread. Compared to the peanut butter spread, the Autoglym falls second best. Then again, the bumper is vinyl. Probing further, I deduce that it must be the oil from the peanut butter that cleans right down the pores of the rubber handles. I also deduce that rubber handles go grey with time partly because of the wax/polish dust that sometimes digs deep into its pores. Its only a theory. Whichever way we look at it, I've learnt something from this forum which I would otherwise have not discovered. Thanks, Mark, for such a nutty tip.
