I never really paid much attention to allergies until my Grandaughter was discovered to be utterly deathly allergic to peanuts. Steve is right. It isn't worth it for good looking rubber to put someone's life in danger. I'm truly not exaggerating the situation.

Here's my household cleaning tip. I just picked up a used first aid box lid for my '85 since my old one was shattered thanks to my 3-year-old. Anyway, the plastic on the one for the pull-a-part was faded, chalky and sun-bleached looking. I cleaned it with toothpaste, water and an old, soft toothbrush (don't use your wife's... just trust me on this one). After a little bit of scrubbing and rinsing I let it dry and gave it a final clean/shine with turtle wax ICE... it looks like new now!

Wouldn't peanut OIL accomplish the same thing only with less stickiness and messiness? I'm betting that it's the oil in the peanut butter that does the trick, not the other ingredients.

Modern peanut butter contains more Crisco than actual peanut oil.

petrochemical based stuff works just as well and those allergic to peanuts will not have to be at risk

Well, then, maybe Crisco is the way to go. Anybody use Crisco on their car?

I was going to wash my W124 today, and was about to take a jar of peanut butter outside with me when I saw this. I'll take the tub of Crisco instead.

I'll probably get some odd looks when my neighbour sees me smearing Crisco over my Mercedes though *shrug*.
