Unhappy Door panels?

i have a 190E 2.6 Inline 6 from 1989 - and the door panels seem to be loosing the glue underthem, and detaching from the window crack, and from the bottom.
Anyone got some ideas or seen/had this happen?
Thanks
Alex

I believe you ought to be looking at the clips and not the glue?

This is a typical problem on cars from hot climates. My 190 has the same problem. You need a very strong glue, a heat gun (hair dryer will do) and some patience.

First, get some 3M Glue designed for vinyl tops (from a auto paint supply outlet) this is about the best I have found. Remove your panel and apply the 3m glue to both the panel and the vinyl (use a paint brush) after the glue has been applied and has dried, use your hair dryer to heat up the vinyl and carefully stretch the vinyl back into position and firmly smooth out any wrinkles.

I use clamps to hold the vinyl in place until it cools down and the glue has fully set.

This process should work very well for small areas, but if the vinyl pulls up around your door handle, you might just want to think about purchasing new panels from MB ($158 +/- each)

I have tried this procedure as well with a different glue, I believe it was called Weather-All. Worked Great! It is less prone to happen if you have the moisture guard (plastic wrap) to isolate the back of the panel from the moisture that can enter during a rainstorm.
