w210 Headliner failing.
The headliner in my 1999 E430 is begun to rapidly seperate from the roof. It's currently being held up in places by the gorgeous do-it-yourself method of sewing pins. Can anyone tell me what kind of hit in the wallet I'm looking at to get the thing replaced?
Also does anyone have a suggestion for an adhesive to secure the fabric to the sunroof cover that won't look absolutely terrible? It might be a bit before I'm able to take the car into an upholsterer and I need a quick fix. Currently I can't even crack the sunroof, up or back, without the fabric peeling back and flapping around. Thanks, Cliff |

failing headliner
Just got my '95 done during this last summer. They tell me at the upholsterer's shop that the glue has de-laminated. Sooo... I replaced the hole thing even though it was not torn. To the tune of about $570 in So Cal.

I don't like the cloth headliner in my W210. If I had to redo it, I'd change it MB tex (black). My W124 had the tex, much eaiser to clean.

I had the headlier in my Lincoln replaced by a shop in Fairfax for $180. They did a great job and it looks good as new. Haven't replaced on in a Benz, though.

ut if your headliner starts to fail and fall down or otherwise loosen up around the rear window area, then it's probably an indication that either your batwings are broken or the adhesive is failing. Very common convertible problem. Not a very well documented fix, but it is an easy one.
