Help me out, what do you guys use to clean your car?

The only products I know or heard of are Meguiar's and Zaino. I visited Meguiar's site and it seems their products are pretty good. Is Meguiar's known to be a premier name for detailing?

Meguiar's stuff is pretty good.

I have never tried anything other than Zymol, and I love the results that I get with it. It is a pain to apply, though.

Next time I wax, I will try the Zaino after all the good things that people keep saying about it. In New Jersey, I actually live less than 5 minutes away from their store, so I will stop by for some stuff when I am back in NJ during Christmas.

Mequair's is what Mercedes sells in the black bottles at their parts departments under the MB name. I have had great luck with the Mequiar's products, especially as described in the detailing instructions under the DIY tab. Even more impressed after I bought the Porter Cable unit.

I'm not very particular when it comes to cleaning the car. I hardly use any car shampoo unless its really filthy and covered with dirt. For most times, its only good ole' water and a good cloth. Come to think of it, I'm more particular about the cloth I use than the shampoo.

I've done a lot of experimenting (though I've not yet tried Zaino) and here's what I use (1) wash -- any car wash product. Its just soap -- not a detergent, which wills trip off wax; (2) glaze - 3M hand glaze (easy on and excellent surface prep) (3) Wax - One Grand Blitz wax (I have tried many waxes including Meguiar's, used Zymol for years and have finally settled on Blitz; its easy to apply and it lasts far far longer than anything else I have tried). I think lots of this is pure and simple personal preference, with the only real rules related to products that can do harm (like detergents) and making sure you use absolutely clean 100% cotton (or microfiber) cloths.

On the weekends, six topless virgin maidens wearing silk lace undies proceed to hand rub my vehicles with cotton diapers...the rest of the men in the neighborhood break out the lawn chairs during this ritual (much to the chagrin of the wives, including mine)...

on the lower body cladding I use meguir's gold class car shampoo, a syn wash mitt, and softened water to gently wash away the surface contaminants

for dust on the paint, I use the California Duster, Meguir's Quick Detailer, and Zaino Spray Gloss Enhancer/ Detailer

windex on the outside windows removed with a crumpled Wall Street Journal

moist synthetic chamois to wipe down the inside windows

zaino bros- Z5 & Z2 polish on the paint

...and if the upper body collects more than a little dust ie dried bugs - - I proceed with the gold class shampoo and softened H20

I use meguiar's car shampoo and their endurance for my tires. I use Griot's products for the rest. I have also purchased their towels and wipes. Pretty good so far.

I use Dawn dish soap on the body and an S.O.S. pad on the wheels with a little Comet.

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use Mothers car soap and wax for spring, summer & fall. During the winter I used NU-Finish on the body and wheels, it is great for protecting the car from salt.
