I would never own a car with out tint. You want to get the tint that is ceramic and cuts the most UV and heat you can afford. Make sure it's a name brand like Lamar and 3m, those are my favorite tints. The inside of your car will be protected from UV and heat build up, and it will also be a lot cooler in the summer time.

Have fun and be safe.

I am going to do mine because there is absolutely no tint or protection on the OEM glass on my 86 SDL
I am going to the junk yard buying all the glass I need (I already found donor)

So I can tint it then swap it in and have no cut lines at the bottom of the window seal or edges
not to mention not having soap and water all over the interior to clean up

I'll have a good glass company put the back window in with a new seal and let them worry about getting the rear defrost hooked up right the first time

Thinkin' the same thing...

I want to get a 'new' used rear window for my '81, but all used examples seem to have as bad a delamination as the one one my car. Heard that new ones are over $800!!! Ouch!

I have a '84 euro td wagon with no factory air. As soon as I can, I am going to tint to drop those temps! Gets hot here in Napa!

I don't know what some of the anti tint mafia on here is on about. I tint all my cars and it really helps keep the interior cool and comfortable. Try doing the 5-6 hour drive up the i5 from LA to the bay area with the sun on your arm the whole way. I need to reduce my exposure to UV as much as possible because there is a high incidence of skin cancer in my family.

And yes you can DIY it with a little practice. 80% ceramic in the front, 20% in the back.

I had the Hueper Optik tint put on my CE this Spring and it has really made a difference in the comfort of the car. I don't know if the ambient temperature is lower, but I do know that the sun doesn't feel hot on me on the window side anymore. That makes a huge difference.
