Paint code for 124 lower cladding? Dark gray

it's a 93 400E, upper color is silver (can't recall the factory color name but it's the same as all the others)

If the upper is 744 brilliant silver the lower is 181 atlas gray.

What's under the cladding? How would the car look if you removed it? I was considering either painting mine the same as the body or removing it altogether.

In PPG brand, it's DB 129 "Galanit Gray" It is not in most body color books but it is under subcategory 'cladding and accent.'

DCC34297 is the formula number but you might have to call a few paint dealers since not all them carry every chemical on the market.

The rubberized coating is called "Gravitex" and IIRC, it is a 3M product, someone else might know if it isn't???
