Any Quick fixxes to repair interior Pull Handle?
1982 300SD
This is the long handle on the inside of the car up front on the passengers side. At the bottom of handle at center of door about, there is a big screw and the plastic part/ the handle itself, the screw goes into/through, it cracked sometime in the past. There isn't much left and a big flat washer that I tried does not grab enough of the handle to work over time. The handle support hole flips off the washer on a door slam. So when you pull the long inside handle it is not fully supported in the middle door area, so it bends slightly, very slightly. I was thinking of using JB weld but the handle is Tan and JB weld is gray. Not sure is JB weld works on plastic either. any ideas? Thanks

I had this issue on the drivers door. Very annoying...What i did was take the one from the rear drivers door (not used much) and move it up front. I'll need to get a replacement soon though. The passenger front door is having the same problem

I would remove and replace, the yards should be
full of cars with that interior. If that is not an option, try ebay

I had the same problem on the driver's side '81 300SD. I used a combo of several washers starting with a big one and a few smaller ones until I could get the washer to grab the old door piece and the screw not to fall through the washer hole. Big washer's hole was way too big so I used some progressively smaller washers until the hole got small enough to accommodate the original phillips screw. Then screwed it back in the doorframe. Been holding for at least 15 years now. And it cannot been seen; is still hidden by the handle.

VegStew,
You were exactly right! The short stubbie support is same as back. (3 screws). I had not seen the two smaller ones that go into the handle from behind. Lil phillups bit and a small 1/4 open end wrech got them off easily. I swapped the "Stubbies". Simple as one-two-three. Don't we love these quick fixxes. I'll check a yard now that I see what I need. Thanks for both replies. Steve

My Stubbie does not have any Beef left in it and I had tried the washer trick but still no beef left. I'm all set by swapping for now, stubbies from rear to front.
Even the back one was a bit cracked but works fine. Wondering if this Stubbie is a dealer item. Might be best to go new, not sure. Anybody know?

The later model W126 incorporates the stubby plastic piece into the whole handle. This ends up being a much stronger design.
