w126 gearshift wood trim, radio and sunroof

I have a 1989 w126 and have some small issues to take care of with the interior.

I need help on removing the wood trim around the gearshift. I believe there are clips on the front end that hold it down but I am not sure.

As for the radio it will have to be replaced because there are four dashes going across the screen. I do not know how to remove it but more importantly I do not want to damage the wiring when I do so. Also I would like to replace so of the speakers as I have read that the factory sound quality is not very good. I am not sure how to remove the speakers especially the ones in the rear shelf. I don't know if anyone has done this before but I thought about buying used Bose speakers from a w140 but I am not sure if that will work.

Lastly the sunroof is giving me trouble. I wanted to check if the motor was still working so I pull the tilt feature switch down and the roof tilted up so someone must have messed with the wiring. Another problem with that was the roof only went up on the passenger side because the driver is stuck. I finally got it closed by pushing the switch back as if I wanted to open the roof. I'm thinking broken rail arms???

Any help would be awesome! Thanks

Interior Removal

Do yourself a favor and buy a repair manual. I don't know if Chilton's has a book for your car but if not buy the MB DVD for ~$100, it's totally worth it. you won't have to guess about how to take things apart (and maybe break them) or do diagnostics.

Good point. You don't have to buy too many replacement parts that were required because you busted up the original one trying to take it out the wrong way before you've spent more than $100.

Ask me how I know this.
