I got wax on my exterior trim.....
Hi!
I'm brand new here and this is my first post. I couldn't seem to find any answer for my problem in an existing thread.... I waxed my '85 300D-T and I got some wax on the trim pieces that go around the exterior of the car. It looks like crap and it's driving me crazy! How can I get this off? Scrubbing doesn't work.... Thanks everyone! |

Power washer at a car wash, perhaps?

This stuff does a pretty good job.

I hear peanut butter works good too. I tried it on my VW which worked out ok, but then I had to find a way to get the PB off

Cover all your black trim with Peanut Butter, then drive to the dog park.

Wow guys thanks so much for all the replies. The one thread I did find on here, the guy said peanut butter but I thought maybe he was just kidding. So I guess I will try it haha.
That dried-on wax remover stuff will my my next try if the PB doesn't do the trick. Do any of you think black shoe polish would do anything to help? |

I've also heard rubbing (Isopropyl) alcohol removes wax from rubber, without damaging it.
Some people report good results from shoe polish, I never tried it. Seems like it might rub off. (On clothes)

It is wax, right? Wouldn't slowly pouring some boiling hot water over it remove it?

I used the incredibly wicked vinyl and trim polisher and cleaner after I waxed my car. The trim looked like crap, but after I ran the rag over top of it it was completely clean. The rag however became jet black. For the love of me I don't remember what the brand was.
Oh and before the resident T fanatic comes out of the woodwork, you don't need to add a T after 300D. I believe it was all of the 300Ds after 81 had turbo's in them so it's a bit redundant. Either way it doesn't matter to me :-P

I have not yet tried it but my father-in-law said he bought a container of it and waxed his entire car with it. Said it did NOT mess his black trim at all. If HE likes the stuff then it must be some great product

There is the "Back to Black" product...I think that will work.

Beware! If you do a search of this forum, you will find that peanut butter is a powerful attractant for squirrels. There is mention of trim being eaten to shreds because of this.
