New Product for many thing!

I bought this stuff at the Mercedes dealer. I used it when washing our Mercedes' with a friend once.
It's called "Der Vinyl Stuff." I had been looking for a product to clean my roof with (I think my roof is vinyl?) and this worked great for the roof and most other surfaces!
It made the dash look brand new! Not glossy at all... I can't really explain, but my dash looks brand new, and without any cheezy gloss!

This is the "cleaner and protector" which came in a green bottle.

Quoted from the bottle:

"DER VINYL STUFF is a scented creme that cleans and protects porous surfaces. It is very easy to clean all tires, rubber mouldings, emblems, plastic bumper guards, dashes, leather seats, bras, vinyl tops, mats and other porous surfaces that have old wax build-up or that have faded. Der Vinyl Stuff contains no drying agents that can crack and dry out the surfaces you are trying to clean and protect."

You actually use a sponge (suggested) to apply the stuff, then wipe off after with a damp clothe.... it brought so much dirt out of my leather seats.

Anyway, for the dash and similar materialed panels, it works great.

I think it was like $8 or something similar at Fletcher JOnes.

When you said "roof", I'm guessing you are referring to "headliner"...

...God help you if you have one of those cheesy fake landau tops with the tacky chrome (or gold) strip on the base of the material!!!

Haven't tried it but sounds pretty good!

This is the same stuff I used back in the early 90s on my celica and Acura Legend. It really makes the car look wet and shiny, and goes on and comes off like water. But I found over 5-6 years use that I had to use it ever more frequently, and by the end of that time I needed both cars machine polished to remove all the oxidation! For shiny, it is pretty great. IMHO it has minimal protection for the paint. Maybe they have re-formulated it since that time, but for long term use, I was disappointed in the early product. Just my opinion.

John,
Thanks for the tip! But I am only using this stuff on the interior... dash, leather (occasionally, and minimally), door surfaces, tex inserts, etc. Works great on that!

(I got my car proffessionally waxed about a week ago for $40. The car looked so good! And the paint was incredibly smooth... but a week later when I went to wash my car, I noticed there was no wax on it, and it was no longer smooth, or looked glossy! WHAT CRAP WAX THEY USE!!)
