Fitting a rolltop console box to 1986 560 SEL

I am just that dumb that the center console box (that everyone else says fits all 126 models) doesnt really fit my center console all that well and put two unsightly dents?!

Does anyone have a pic of their "newer" center console but from the rear so I can see how the box meets up with it? I suspect the later models curve upward above the rear hvac vents.

Help.

Assuming it is the correct type, a #126 number, the center console carpet needs to be removed, the rear lower edge gets put in place first and two screws inside the box secure the front lower edge in place.

Thanks BB! You seem to be the first on the scene to all my quandries. Well done.

It would seem that I would have to "cut out" the carpet, am I correct? As it does not seem like it would just lift out.

Use a screw driver to pull the carpet a little to the center (gentle force only)
from any sides or corners ..
Once you get an edge of it you can take it out slowly..

Fit the rolltop from back end first to front as far as i can remember.. Front has two holes just screw it down. Hope this one helps.
