Drying Wet Carpet
 

I just picked up a really nice 1985 300TD. Body has zero rust and the car runs great. Car has been sitting for a while 3+ years and the carpet and floor are wet. I have standing water on the passenger side.

What would be the best way to get the water out and clean the carpets??

Use a wet/dry vacuum to remove standing water and water from saturated carpet. Then open the doors and let things air dry in the sun.

The carpets (front/rear driver/passenger floor) all come out, so wet vac them and hang out to dry. Then wet vac up any remaining water under the carpets and on the reaming carpeted surfaces. Basically take anything wet out, if possible, and let it dry out. Then open the car up and let it dry out really well. Possibly setup a small fan to circulate the air within the car.

I got it...carpet is trash but the wet/dry vac was the ticket
