Are all/most W123 seats interchangeable?

Greetings, I see some postings about people wanting to put 124 seats in 123's, etc, but I'm wondering how interchangeable 123 seats are across the model years and between 300's and 240's? I've got a 240D, and I can only find model 300's in the local junk yards... will a 300 driver's seat likely bolt in?

Thanks,

Kurt

I can't confirm, but I believe any W123 seat will fit any W123. There are no electronic compatibility issues like the W126.

I've got to think it would fit. It's just a matter of 4 bolts in the floor, after all.

Yes I think you are right there is little difference between the interiors of a 240D and a 300D - coupe models are sometimes slightly different though. But I can't see why they would have made too many complications during manufacturing. It is easier to fit one part in many different models (if you see what I mean).

If you're not sure take some measurements and maybe even a photograph if necessary.

Look out for height adjusting seats - I've got one fitted as standard on the driver's side of my 300D but there isn't one for the passenger.

You won't want to use a coupe seat for anything other than a coupe. Other than that the only problem you should run into is matching the upholstry material as it changed over the production run.

The tuck and roll on the seat for the 80 240D has 5, and for my 85 300D is 6.
