Best methods to bringing out the shine on freshly painted surfaces..

Just wondering what is the best compound/ polishing/waxing method to use on a freshly painted part. I.E. My grill frame.

I still have some sanding to do, and some more painting, but when all is done, I know I will have to do some kind of compounding etc to really make it glow and shine.

Anyone have any ideas for me as to the best stuff / methods to use? keep in mind I will be doing it by hand without a machine and I will take my time if need be.

Thanks

Alon

Fresh paints don't require compound. You would just want some protective wax and not one that strips down the paint.

Very tough to polish non-flat surfaces with abrasives (ie. compounds, wet sand or even 3M micron sheets); just ask a furniture refinisher. Best bet to bring out shine on odd shaped pieces with nooks and crannies is clearcoat with a steady hand; but I know you've already planned that from previous info. on your grill project. Good luck; I'm sure it will look great.

Actually You would compound it with a light compound, then glaze it, then wax it after painting, but you need to wait a week at leastf or the paint to dry fully before you do anything.

They will get smoother and shinier with a compounding, glazing and waxing.

I stripped the grill frame because I had to, I will repaint it again soon.

I did however do the headlight wiper panels below the headlights. They came out excellent.
