Leatherique: a small caution
Just completed my first Leatherique makeover on my 300CE interior, and just thought I'd warn you of one small danger I hadn't heard anyone else mention. The instructions tell you that in cooler weather you should cover the seats in seran wrap or large garbage bags to allow the Rejuvinator Oil to get into the hide. So, with it being cold and rainy here in the SF bay area, I wrapped the seats in large garbage bags and let the stuff sink in for 24 hours. So what do I find when I take the bags off the next day? Doh! Ink, oh ungodless, merciless ink writing from the garbage bags transferred to my precious leather! My rear seats actually read in bright blue "Children may suffocate. Do not allow them to play with plastic bags." ARgrrgrgrgh!!!! The stuff was nearly impossible to get out. I took to it with toothbrush to little avail, and finally ended up mildly using the abrasive side of a sponge. Oh, the stuff came off -- but so did a small bit of leather dye. I left some of the smaller ink spots for fear of rubbing any more dye off. In short, I can't believe Leatherique doesn't warn it's customers about something like this, but maybe it's common sense and my own stupid mistake. I just thought I would pass it on.
Oh, and incidentally, the Leatherique didn't do anything that great for my leather. I think the stuff is really designed for neglected or uncared for leather, and since mine is only ten years old and had enthusiast care, I didn't notice much of a difference. I'm not knocking the stuff, I'm just not feeling like it was worth it to have lost a patch of leather dye. The Pristine Clean does work great on vinyl and door trim, though. Zach 1992 300CE |

To confirm your thought: I used rejuv oil and pristine clean to the leather in my '81. I believe the leather never had been treated or conditioned - the tops of the back seats were quite cardboardy.
The product brought the leather back from the dead. I had used several products to that point, but this was a complete knockout. I also used the full product set on my '86 that had always been garaged and well-treated - and results were not as dramatic. |

That is a shame! Sorry to hear about your predicament.
I'd agree that Leatherique hasn't noticeably changed my already well-tended leather. Seems to be a fine product and I plan to keep using it.

I've used the Meguiars leather cleaner conditioner and it works well. They say that if a leather is in good shape you shouldn't really have to apply strong conditioners to it. With some elbow grease the meguiars removes the dirt in the crevices of the leather and after buffing doesn't leave a high shine but looks new and natural. And....its easy to use!
