I believe he is referring more to a smell best described as, "Old Cuban men smoking cigars whilst drinking cologne".

found a useful tool that's like a bigger toothbrush

I've had the same problem with ground in grime in the vinyl. A soft bristle toothbrush seems to agitate the dirt out regardless of the product used (although I've been using Vinylex with great results and it doesn't dry out the material like soap will and has anti-UV stuff).

I wanted to find something bigger than a toothbrush with the same effect and thought of using a mushroom brush. I bought one with soft blade shaped bristles instead of smaller ones with bristle pockets. It's not quite as good as the toothbrush but unless someone is really eyeballing your interior they wont notice. I think a traditional mushroom brush with bristle pockets would work just as well as a toothbrush. Mushroom brushes are super soft because they're meant for brushing mushrooms without tearing them so it hasn't damaged my interior at all and speeds up the process.

I've attached some photos of the results on a green vinyl swivel chair (comparing methods) and MB tex. I've found the mushroom brush really comes into its own on the steering wheel and palomino plastic surfaces.

I know I'm late to the party, but I thought if you were still working on getting that grime out this might help speed things along.

I like your brush idea.. Grooming mushrooms, that is new. I would have suggested a boars hair brush as well

Glad you like the idea! Let me know if you have success with your interior/silky fungi. My interior is lightening patch-by-patch to a nice creamy beige colour instead of a yellowed tan. It's completely worth it.

You can't kill Tex!

Sandblast it

Seriously, I've used everything from the orange-bottle Lexol cleaner (probably wasting money) to Windex and a toothbrush. I think the key is no acid and no heavy grit. Anything else is fair game.

I'm using 303 protectant on my dash and upper vinyl trim - is that appropriate? I use Vinylx on the areas below sun-level

I use a diluted simple green.

Clean with 50/50 simple green and water
Wipe down with a damp cloth (water)
protect with lexol, or your conditioner of choice.

That's why I'd be a bit leery of orange GoJo -- it uses citric acid as a cleaning agent. The white stuff is terrific. I used some to clean a leather-covered steering wheel recently with no ill effects.

I use Soft Scrub and a small brush. then wipe it down with a sponge several times and wipe dry with a towel. really gets into the creases and crevases. used it on door panels and door arm rests.

Used it on my new 30yr old 240D with good results getting PO years of grit and grime scrubbed off.

Really not going to hurt the MB tex, it is tough stuff. Iam not going to a Concorse event, just want it clean. I wouldn`t use it on leather.

You can be cleaned with a solution of dish soap liquid and warm water. You can also use orange oil. They have a way of breaking down the thick grime.

ALERT!

Windex has Ammonia in it!

Uber BAD for MB Dashes.
(Accelerates Out Gassing of Vinyl VOC components.)
[So.It can't be good for MBTex either]

(Get the 32Oz spray bottle and a 2 Liter refill)
This is what I use on the Vehicle's Glass:

I haven' had an MB with MB Tex in a while,.....but when I wanted to clean one in the past,....I used 409 spray cleaner, a regular scrub brush and then immediately follow with a large towel. The 409 turns any and all grime on Tex into a liquid almost immediately. You can spray, scrub and wipe down a seat in 2-3 minutes and I promise you, it wont get any cleaner with any other product.
