W126 300SD Only one side of the seat switch works.

Hi there, I'm having a problem with the passenger seat switch, only half of it works I know for a fact that all the motors in the seat work. The other day the whole switch worked but some one modified the the connectors by soldering them, I had some original wires so today I splice the wire and only half of the switch works. The reason why I spliced the wire is because; even though the switch worked the switch moved other parts of the seat so for example on the switch I moved the rear rest of the seat I would be moving the rear bottom of the seat, So I wanted to get in newer and not modified connectors and then worry about which switch movement would move which part of the seat. Now I'm faced with this problem. Do I have to solder the connectors like some one did before? Or is this another type of problem?

You can get seat switches from the guys on the forum for a reasonable cost. Seems like I paid about $25 for one about six months ago. The 1981 switch has one less wire than the newer ones but it is easy to double up one of the wires and make it work. The switches are pretty durable so there is a good chance that you can fix the one you have. Someone probably can find a schematic for you to figure which wire does what but you can always pull out the other door switch and use it as a go by.

There is also a thread somewhere here that shows how to take it apart and clean all the contacts. It is really simple, just do not lose the ball bearings.

left seat switch 83 sd needed

I am having a difficult time finding a replacement seat switch left for our 83 SD. We are unlucky and have the one that has to be soldered. UGH. Does anyone have a secret or does anyone have a switch for us? Or any ideas? Thanks. The switch actually works good but all the pins are broken. So we really just need the guts. We also are missing the knobs that move the seat back and forth. We will work the puzzle. Thanks
