center pillar trim

Where can I get a replacement center pillar trim for my '80 240D? Maybe I'm using the wrong search keywords? This is the (hard as a rock, and warped) trim that goes up where the doors meet in the center of each side of the car (interior). I guess I could find a junker, but the pull-apart places around here do not have old MBs lyin around...

Try searching for a "B Pillar". But still, they're probably hard to find in good shape. You might also try regluing the vinyl. The trim piece itself is alloy or steel. Shouldn't be warped at all. I've been looking for minty b pillar covers for years...good luck.

What's the part number on your original? I'm looking for some good centre pillar trim / B pillar trim too. I'd like to find out if the part numbers embossed into the plastic on the back of the trim are colour specific => I guess not - but I'd like to know.

You are better served taking the "B Pillar" to an upholstery shop and have it re-covered with the closest possible match.

Use 3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive on the vinyl and metal shell, you must let the glue dry three minutes before applying the vinyl to the metal shell.
Two sets of hands are generally needed to stretch/form the vinyl as you mount it to the steel frame.

FYI:

J & M Canvas
377 South blvd. E.
Rochester Hills, MI 48307
(248)852-0384

Will re-cover the "B Pillar" in color matched vinyl for $100.00 each
It can also be done in MBtex, NOTE – price varies on this special order material, and must be quoted on each job.
