W123 Hazard Switch

Hi guys,

I've just purchased an '85 300D and I was wondering if I could replace the factory toggle hazard switch with an earlier version (the pushbutton that says HAZARD). Could it work or would it be a wiring disaster?

Thanks!

Will

All those switches usually just pop out with a gentle persuasion.

Have your new switch handy and just change the wires one for one.

I think the older style had the relay integrated into the switch which is why they're pricier and hard to find. I think 81 may be the cutoff.

If it's a style thing, then you could probably re-wire the old switch to trip the new relay. Schematics for both are available. Some splicing, etc, but probably possible, assuming the old switch fits into the new-style receptacle with depth, etc. It'd likely be easier if you had the complete old-style harness and plug and not just the switch.
