Dawn dishwashing soap gets diesel out out of sheep skins!

OK, this one requires that you have machine washable sheep skin seat covers. Got some diesel oil on the seats (don't ask, it involved stupidity). Immediately removed the seat cover and doused the oil stains with dawn dishwashing soap. Let it stand for three days, put an extra dose on them and then rinsed out with water for a long time. almost could not believe my eyes, the diesel oil is totally GONE!

Nice one - do you know which multi national makes Dawn? Perhaps another brand name is the same stuff over here...

Proctor & Gamble makes Dawn dishwashing soap. It has been successfully used to clean up oil spill damages from oil tanker spills. My sheepskins were $500 so I was concerned when I first saw the mess. Still can't believe the Dawn cleaned them up so nice.

Thanks for the info - how about an "after" picture?

Here are the brand names

PG.com All Brands: Venus, Dawn, Cheer, Puma, hair color

It looks like Bold and Dash would work here!

possibly, however I think Bold and Dash are laundry soaps while Dawn is for washing dishes. I'm in need of a new digital camera so taking photos is a bit difficult right now. When I first saw the diesel oil I knew I needed to use a product that would remove the oil yet wouldn't damage my $500 sheep skin seat covers. I couldn't use anything like Simple Green or Purple Power (too harsh for the sheep skin); Dawn came to mind so that is what I used and it worked!
