What's the best way to clean/freshen floormats

and carpet (original equipment). Would also like a method that would get rid of the "creases" and wrinkles that seem to work their way in.

Floor Mats

Jim:

I solved this problem with a Power Washer!

On a previous Post I talked about using a Power Washer to clean floor mats and carpets!

Probably wanna wait till spring to do this but..

What you do is lay it all on a flat surface, wet the carpet down and scrub with Resolve. Take the Power Washer and hit them real hard with the hi end pressure and walla!

If you dont have access to a PW go to an automated car wash and use theirs!

Trust me it works. The drying time is the problem! That is why you want a nice warm day when you can hang them up and let them air dry for 24 hours!

Hope this helps!

I used carpet cleaner and a scrub brush. They came out like new.

Tuff Stuff (in the yellow can) is a magnificent product for floormats. I've discovered the key is to use a cotton towel to wipe down the mats after a good cleaning with tuff stuff. You would be amazed at what tuff stuff will loosen up out of your floormats. Whenever I clean them, I ruin a rag for each mat -- that's how much dirt gets lifted out.

I don't suggest using the pressure washer cause it loosens the backing and changes the nap texture. I just use carpet cleaner and blot dry.

Carpets

An alternative to the high pressure hose is the garden variety. My (new) carpets came from a breakers and were covered in all sorts of crap like oil, dirt etc.I layed mine on a flat surface and scrubbed with plenty of carpet shampoo. Then I hung them up and hosed them off and let them drip dry overnight .Wouldn't lay them flat to dry or hang them over radiators for the risk of damaging them.If you can't wait till spring dry them somewhere indoors, cause frozen mats are a bugger to fit back into the drivers footwell!!!=Bear

I use the stair tool from my old Bissell carpet cleaner. You'd be amazed by the amount of gunk that gets extracted from your auto carpets!

Try 409. I've used it with great results.

Pressure washer. I didn't notice any damage and blasted INCREDIBLE amounts of dirt out of them.
