Respraying hood?
So the roof of my 300TE is starting to get sun spots and the hood has got a lot of paint blotches from the lack of hood pad for a few years and left out in the California/Arizona sun...
It has paint code 122 Diamond Grey Metallic. The rest of the car is pretty good, its realistically just the hood that I want to get fixed. Is this something that I could do myself since I have a little experience (I stripped primered and resprayed my bumpers and they came out good) or will it need to be professionally done to match everything? What sort of price range should I be expecting here? Any advice? Thanks guys.

I can't give you price advice that would be of any use to you as I'm here and you are there!
Doing it yourself I think is a definite possibility particularly if you have a good inside space to paint, an air compressor, a spray gun and an in-line filter to stop oil and water from getting into the paint. Safety can be a slight concern especially if you are spraying 2 pack where you really need a forced air respirator. Do a search for some whunter / jmk posts for this... If you are careful, patient and clean you could do a perfectly good job - you might not win the best paint in show prize - but you'll never know how good you can be if you don't give it a go. This web page gave me a lot of help before I started playing about with paint. Spray Painting Tutorial

Metallic is a little tricker to work with than a solid color as mixtures of the metallic can vary and so can your guns application. Most important is to consider a paint shop that has a "sun gun" to take into consideration the fade on the balance of your car. Some shops have the shade splotches to do a visual comparison but the gun is far more accuratate.
Doing a large area like roof, hood, trunk lid is easier than spotting metallic paint.

Other than the height of the roof and getting above it with your gun - its very easy to color sand/blend roof paint into the rest of car.
