Just removed paint oxidation, now what?
The car is an '81 300SD that was repainted by the previous owner. The paint is good, I doubt that it was Maaco. The paint oxidizes pretty badly on the roof and center of the hood. In the past I've removed it with Mcquire's NXT successfully only to have it come creeping back a few weeks later. I've also tried Collinite wax cleaner and wax which is awesome, but not for oxidation. Finally I tried TR-3 resin glaze which I used to use on my 240D. The stuff works great. Is there a sealant or wax that will do a good job of preserving the finish the TR-3 accomplished? Should I consider a new clear coat from an auto paint shop? The clear coat is not flaking or coming up. Thanks

I used Zymol wax after I removed the oxidation on my 240D.
Here is a during picture and a finished picture. I really need to do this again. |

Gator,
Was it necessary to remove the compound you used to remove the oxidation before applying the wax? How long did it take for the oxidation to start coming back? Thanks

These pictures are almost seven years old and its just now starting to come back. The car has only been driven about 10k miles in that time and has been stored in a garage the whole time.
