W126 dash speakers and grilles
Do you trim the speaker grilles to fit inside the new opening on the dash pad? Or leave them original sized and realize they will not come off once the dash cap is in place?
What about replacement speakers? Are these a dealer-only item? Anyone know the cost? PNP junkyard speakers are as old as the ones I have, so probably not worth using. Is there a way to test speakers at the junkyard so I don't buy a bad one? I was thinking iPod, but the impedance is wrong. Any other ideas?

I replaced my dash speakers with off the shelf 4 1/2" Pioneer speakers i got from Best Buy. No trimming needed. The speaker screws didnt align properly so its only being held in with one screw and the downward pressure of the speaker grill. hope this helps.
Still sounds like crap. car needs bass. |
