Question paint refurb windscreen motor cover

hi all

I was wondering if its possible/advisable to paint the the windscreen motor cover on my w124 as its gone a very very pale shade of grey.

I have tried a back to black polish but it doesn't stick so if anyone has done something similar i'd love to hear about it.

TIA

brendan
