Repair W124 B pillar top mount?

The left B pillar cover in my 124 is broke. It's plastic and where the retaining clip attaches at the top, the plastic is broke. Here is photo of a non-broken unit. Its broken in the area highlighted in red.



Does Mercedes sell a repair kit or has anyone developed a way to fix it?

I only discovered that someone before me had done repair job by placing a piece of metal on the face and running a screw though and into the original clip. The problem is that I discovered this while recovering the b pillars and I need it to be smooth.

the factory repair manual technique is the best.

you require a piece of aluminum plate about the same profile as the part where the clip hooks to,

you drill two holes in the aluminum and peel the vinyl to expose the plastic, then drill the same into the plastic.

Use two rivets to tack the piece to the trim. Stick the vinyl back and install into car. Did that on my car and no-one can tell its repaired as the vinyl hide the rivets.

My repair isn't exactly the same as MB recommends because I didn't come across your reply or the MB PDF until I was already done with my design

But Zulfiqar I'd have to agree with you, "the factory repair manual technique is the best".

In fact I did, simulated leather in a matching colour didn't exist locally. Wasn't certain if I'd like it or not - but must say it looks good.
