motor oil on paint

some idiot poured motor oil all over my car..hood trunk windows etc

its all in the window seals and in my lights.

have washed it several times and its not comming out.

will this ruin the paint? I would say about 5 quarts of oil all over it

I did call the police and the insurance company.

I keep getting oil out of the seals of the windows and the doors. I think the paint is OK except for where they scratched it.

Im still working on getting it off the glass. it just wont come off. the front glass is about a year old and its not even comming off that.

Im calling my mechanic tomorrow they also threw oil up under the car and I started it and it sounds funny.

to bad people have such bad attitudes towards others that have worked hard for nice things.

Don't worry to much. Think about this, when someone race's their six million dollar 275LM in an historic race, oil is collected all over the car from other competitors.

Wash polish and wax, rubber protectant, and lots of window cleaner to rid of any film. Not sure on what exactly is wrong with your lights but you can disassemble and clean.

Any oil that drips into a hidden recess is probably a good thing, acts as an anti-corrosive. And you know that carnuba wax uses petroleum distillates to soften the original form carnuba.

Did you check the oil level in your car to make sure they didn't drain your sump? Use 100% cotton diapers from target or Wal-mart(cheap) to clean the glass and try grease cutting dish cleaner detergent as the cleaner.

Benzat,I'm sorry to hear about your Merc getting hit by vandals.Have you tried traffic film remover or a similar additive with a pressure washer. You might like to try an auto glass retailer they probably have come across this problem before.Good luck Bear

yes thank you all. Ive washed and washed and washed the car but the oil is under the molding on the bottom and on the window molding now it just oozes out. going to take it to my mechanic and see what they can do and I also called the police and the insurance company.

thanks for your support and help.

I think I will try to let the insurance company pay for a detail. and new moldings.

I also check to make sure it wasnt my oil, nope mine is still in there.

thanks for your help

That sucks -- I feel your pain. Someone literally punched my door and fender last spring. D*mn vandals.

Anyhow, if multiple washes doesn't get the oil out, you might need to have a body shop remove all the affected trim/molding etc. and clean it out. I'd think inurance would cover you...

You're lucky it wasn't brake fluid!

Let us know what transpires,

Any chance brake fluid was tossed onto the paint?

Was there any clear liquid about?

I may and you may also want to contact www.mobil.com, they may be ablt to answer e-mail or phone calls on this subject.

Unhappy recycle center oil?

That much oil dumped on your MB
There is a good chance it came out of a recycle bin/tote from just about anywhere. I would not be surprised there is more in the dumped waste than motor oil. That could explain why you are having such trouble.

When dealing with the insurance, I would point out you don't know for sure what it is, but it looks like motor oil is part of it, and whatever it is, its ruining your car.

Brother, we feel your pain

Karma is a b*tch...that guy will get what's coming to him sooner or later.

Best of luck getting it cleaned up. Hey, maybe there's a bright side....at least you won't have to worry about rust for a long time in all the seams and cracks!

Mike
