Painted my M103 Valve Cover today!

Just my take on how to finish it at home...
Stripped and degreased it. Sanded out any rough patches, and hit it with 3 thick coat of H/T Engine paint, semi gloss.
Then I used a razor blade to shave the paint off the ribs and tip of Mercedes logo.
The I hit it with 2 H/T Clearcoats.

Dude, I have barely cleaned it, this is how I bought it!!
I degreased and rinsed the area near the Idle air hoses cos I was replacing them and didnt want to get dirt in the valve cover..
I have not even wiped down the paint in the engine bay(see the rusty stain on the left next to the washer fluid res... I think there was an alarm siren there).
I will now the engine is all sealed up, and give the paint under there a coat of wax! !
This is how it looked before I did the hoses.... Look at the inside of the engine... hows that for a 20 year old car... but its only got 88k miles!

I'm picking mine up tomorrow. I had the manifolds blasted and coated as well as my valve cover. I stripped mine and was about to paint it but when I dropped off my manifolds I asked about powder coating it. I couldn't pass up the great price and guarantee. I'll post pics when I get them all back.

Nice engine bay.

I ended up finding a p-e-r-f-e-c-t (no chips anywhere) OEM valve cover from a 260E at the junkyard. I think it was so nice because it was from an easy driven 2.6!
