What kind of wood and stain is on a 84 300d?
I have a 1984 300D. I would like to replace the ashtray with a custom piece of wood. I can handle making the piece but I do not know what to use to make it.
What is happening is that the radio I have has a flip down face. This blocks the cigarette lighter and makes it where i cannot charge my phone. I want to replace it with a piece of matching wood with a regular cigarette lighter it so it is much more horizontal. At the same time I will put a 110v outlet and run wires from an inverter mounted under the hood. |

You're probably better off asking for a second hand piece from someone (so do a WTB). There are two types of wood that I know of:- Zebrano and some sort of burl (possibly walnut-ique)

For what I want to do I don't think I can reuse a piece. With the possible exception of the wood on the center panel with the gear shift I can't think of any large enough because I need a bit bigger than the current piece that goes on the lighter tray. |
