How to remove cracked finish on shift console.

Just bought one on eBay and need to know what to use to remove finish down to raw wood. Also need to know where to buy the black plastic or rubber finish around the gear shifter.

Try the Parts Department at your local MB dealer. Normally they can get any part you need for a price. Be prepared for sticker shock. Or, check a salvage yard.

Use acetone or nail polish remover to remove varnish

OK All of the finish is off and down to bare wood.
What is next? Had to use some wood filler. Hope it doesn't show.

If you are trying to make it match the stuff that you have you are possibly going to be disappointed. I'd look for a high gloss varnish - preferably in a rattle can. (I can't give local product advice - perhaps someone else can?)
