replaced w126 seat bottom...now too high?
I recently rebuilt my 83 300sd's drivers' seat. I bought a used spring bottom which is in great condition and also a brand new seat pad (horsehair) like original. The firmness of the seat and shape is amazing again. It's like a brand new car now. But the seat seems to sit too high now. Is this normal? Same seat motor and cross sections as before. Seat raises all the way up and all the way down but sits a lot higher. I was just wondering if this was normal??

1st thought is of course that you got used to it being too low give it another 30 years and it will sit low again
I replaced mine with 1991 w126 seats and it was much higher, I just motored it back down to where I like it. It's completely normal. If its too high at the lowest setting, you can try and pull the seat and bend the lower frame with the right c-clamp but I'd say that's a last ditch effort. At the lowest setting is it too high?

At it's lowest position my head almost hits the ceiling. With the old spring box and worn out seat pad I had to raise the seat.

Great day, how tall are you?
I wonder if your install has the spring box fully seated into the frame. If that's not the case, may be time to pull it and bend the frame.

I'm only 5'10". I'll just live with it. i look at the passenger seat which was in the same condition as the drivers seat till I fixed it and the rear of the seat sags all the way down. No support at all. I think I was just so used to that...having it the way it should be is a shocker now.

Your seat should have height adjustability.
