Source for touch-up paint in spray cans?
I have an '85 300TD with very shabby looking plastic headlight "doors" (USA style). Rather than buy replacements, I am tempted to try to paint these to match the color of the rest of the bodywork (#199: Black Pearl, recently redone by previous owner), but I can't locate the proper color in spray cans. The dealers in this area only have the tiny bottles with brushes for rock chips, etc.; PartShop says they can't ship spray cans, but that I should be able to get it at NAPA; NAPA, AutoZone, etc., etc., etc., all say they don't have any listing for such old Mercedes colors. HELP!!!

Had the same problem over here with my red 123 300D try looking for a match with VW paint. It wont be exact but it'll be alot closer than you might expect,if you have no joy try BMW or Audi.It makes sense to try paint for another german car manufacturer,if you can see where I'm coming from.Bear

Well, there's a Mitsubishi Diamante color
that's very close too, but not close enough to please my wife, whose color eye is much better than mine.

Thanks
The local NAPA can't find any such listings in their books, but I do have to go up to Richmond Friday to fetch #3 daughter home for Easter Triduum services, so perhaps I can find one there.

Spray paint cans
Finum Fit,
The Motor Company at www. themotorcompany.com can mix any color as long as you supply them with the MBZ color code from the crossmember in front of the radiator. Ask for their lacquer equivalent. Very easy to work with and you can rub it out so it'll never show. Ben |
