Matt finish?
Guys, While I can "paint the town", I know nothing about car paint. I want to go to two tone on my '97 Cl500, like my '95 E420. I have the paint codes but the lower paint color is "matt finish". Does this mean that there is no clear coat applied?

I guess this is on plastic trim - in which case a lot of metallic colours are used but left with out a gloss clear coat. For additional protection you are probably wise to use a matt clear coat (which do exist but are not always easy to find).

Thanks Stretch,
While the cladding on the lower body is metal, the bumpers are plastic. Now it makes sense to use a matte finish. We have a auto paint supplier right down the street. I'll see what they have to say. Anziani |
