What is the recommended product for caring for the plastic portion of the bumpers on a 1982 300SD? Wax or a protectant like Vinylex or Armorall?

A old tips is brake fluid on a rag gently.
It gives the plastic a new shine.
NB. only black plastic not painted.
And be careful with the paint on the car.

Meguirs back to black or new bike in a can.

Armerall has alcohol in it and should be displaced to the moon via a rocket ship.

I repainted mine,after time,bumpers get discolored,and no amount of silicone will help.I washed bumpers,with acetone,then used black automotive spray paint.I did the cladding to.Looks better than original look.

What were the steps in repainting? I've painted an atv before and got some kind of plastic primer.

I have an early 115, and I'm thinking about ripping the plastic off and cutting/bending some flat stock to weld in and making them smooth.

I've also been hearing about your WVO concerns with poly. I'll take a look but might pm some questions... Lol.

yes chicken skin was bad.I first used degreaser on bumpers,and cladding.then wiped good with acetone,spray paint with gloss,retouched it after 7 years.

Nice. That seems like it would spruce things up. I have chrome trim with plastic on the underside. Gotta figure out how to separate it to paint the plastic part.

And I'll keep going on my WVO thread. Eating breakfast at my oil spot currently and asking questions.

I used blue painting tape,and news papers to mask off car./
