W115 240d rear seat rebuild

I have a 1974 240d that my dad bought new. The horse hair padding on the rear seat is gone. I cannot find replacement pads and I am trying to figure out how to make pads from foam.

Do anyone have advice on how to construct pads for my rear seat? I am worried that the foam pads will crush on the edges leaving the MBTex all loose and wrinkled. I am thinking that this issue could be minimized with a hard foam on the bottom and a soft foam on the top (maybe memory foam). I don't have any practical experience in this area so I thought I'd float the question to this forum.

Do you have any suggestions for how to make the padding for the rear seat of my car?

Dave

I don't know how different the W123 rear seat horsehair pad is from a W115, but I have one for sale. It's priced pretty cheaply and it's in great shape. Around 1-2 years ago, these were selling like crazy for $100 a pop.

Have you tried looking in the JYs for a foam subsistute?

Hi Greazzer,

The W123 may fit the W115. Let's exchange personal messages.
